Aspartame – The Silent Poison

Many years ago, after having associates that were suffering headaches after drinking coke, I started looking into things such as caffeine.  Caffeine in itself ain’t the greatest thing to be putting into your body in high amounts, but along my travels, I found that most of these associates were drinking coke zero and not actual full sugared coca-cola.  I started looking into what replaced the sugar content and came across the sweetener code 951.  Whenever a company of any sought does not want you to know what is in their products, they number code some of the ingredients and this is exactly what they did with coke zero.  951 it turns out, is known as aspartame.  After looking into aspartame, I came to know exactly what the below websites are about to tell you.  Take a look and you might want to think twice next time about buying something off the shelf without knowing the number codes, that are designed to hide something nasty.

From Sweet Poison:

Aspartame may trigger, mimic, or cause the following illnesses:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Post-Polio Syndrome
Lyme Disease
Grave’s Disease
Meniere’s Disease
Alzheimer’s Disease
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Mercury sensitivity from Amalgam fillings
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

Just to name a few.  Now let’s take a look at another website that shows some of the other nasties in coke zero.

From The Zero Movement:

2005 Study links Aspartame with cancer – available at the US government’s NIH website
From the Conclusions… “Our study shows that Aspartame is a multi-potential carcinogenic compound whose carcinogenic effects are evident even at a daily dose of 20 mg/kg bw, much less than the current ADI for humans in Europe (40 mg/kg bw) and in the United States (50 mg/kg bw).
I dare say that the only amount of zero that we should have in our gut, is “zero”.

  1. Sorry to hear that you have struggled with headaches in the past. Although headaches can’t be properly studied as there is no analytical way to properly measure them, it is unlikely aspartame is the cause. Aspartame is one of the most studied food additives in the world, with close to 1,000 studies completed! Organizations around the world have extensively reviewing all the data and deemed it completely safe for humans. The most recent review, by the European Food Safety Authority in 2013, concluded that “aspartame and its breakdown products are safe for general population (including infants, children and pregnant women)”. More information can be found here:

As for the study linking aspartame to cancer, this laboratory in Italy has been one of the only to publish data linking aspartame to cancer, which has surprised other researchers who found the opposite. Since then, many experts have carefully examined the studies and all found that the studies were poorly conducted and the results were not valid.

  2. I didn’t suffer from headaches ye oh so sweet one. You don’t read so well it seems. Too anxious to defend your Sweetener Council perhaps? In the mean time, you might want to speak to the many Australian doctors that ALSO warn me against sweeteners 950 (Acesulphame Potassium Acesulphame K ) and 951 (Aspartame). I am soon to be interviewing some of these doctors, so stick around for that.
